Dismount

Description:
Riders will be asked to dismount their horses.

Options:

• Themes may be part of the dismount obstacle such as getting off to load into a trailer, picking out a hoof etc.
• Riders could possibly be asked to present a hoof pick
• Emergency dismount – quick dismount soon after a horse stops
• Dismount on the off side

How is it Judged?

• Horse must stand still – penalties for movement
• When dismounting riders legs should clear the rump of the horse
• Rider’s foot should not not be in the stirrup when the other foot touches the ground
• Reins must be in riders hands during dismount
• Rider should land softly and face forward
