Description:
Rider is asked to drag an object in a straight line from point A to point B. (Next horse may be asked to go from B to A). A nylon or cotton rope will be used of the same thickness as a lead rope to prevent injury to the horse and rider.
Options:
- Object could be anything; log, cans, stuffed animal etc
- Open division may be asked to pull in 2 directions forward away from object or backward facing object
How is it Judged?
- Western riders are to wrap rope one turn toward their belt buckle keeping thumb up and out of way
- English riders are to hold rope in figure 8 in their hand so they can drop it quickly
- Riders should not wrap or coil rope around their hand
- Objects should be kept at one horse length from horse and care taken not to bump horse’s legs
- Rider judged on balance and safety
- Horse judged on willingness and no signs of disobedience
- Judges will instruct you to drop rope immediately if they determine you or your horse are proceeding in an unsafe manor
