A side pass is a lateral move with the hips and shoulders moving at the same time.
Options:
- Facing an obstacle
- Over an obstacle like a log or pole
- Between an obstacle (between parallel polls
How is it Judged?
- Point deduction for crossing behind, or moving legs sideways but next to each other
- Balanced rider position. Riders can look where they are going but not focus downward
- Riders in shank bit must use one hand
- Riders in snaffle or hackamore may use 2 hands
- If obstacles are used points deducted for hitting the obstacle
