Help Support Funding for the New York State Horse Council

The New York State Horse Council (NYSHC) is asking members of the equine community to contact their New York State legislators and support funding for the organization in the upcoming state budget.

For nearly 60 years, NYSHC has advocated for all breeds and disciplines of horses across New York State. The organization is requesting a $100,000 line-item appropriation in the 2026–2027 New York State Budget to support important programs that benefit the entire horse industry.

Why This Matters

Funding will help expand programs that support:

  • Workforce development in the equine industry
  • Youth leadership and education programs
  • Trail improvement on public lands
  • Open space and trail access protection
  • Large animal rescue and emergency response training
  • Equine education from high school through college
  • Promotion of New York as a premier trail riding destination
