Greenway Trail Master

Objective:
Embark on a remarkable journey across the diverse landscapes of the Genesee Valley, Lehigh Valley, and Ontario County Greenways. The Greenway Trail Master Challenge is designed to inspire equestrians to explore all 131 available miles of these scenic trails, promote responsible riding, and engage with the community, all while adhering to the principles of Leave No Trace.

      • Genesee Valley Greenway – 90 Miles
      • Lehigh Valley Trail – 15 Miles
      • Ontario County Pathways – 26 Miles

Qualifications:
To earn the title of Greenway Trail Master, participants must meet the following requirements:

      • Certification: Secure a Leave No Trace – Stock Use Certification before commencing the challenge.
      • Trail Riding: Successfully ride all 131 available miles of the Genesee Valley, Lehigh Valley, and Ontario County Greenways.
      • Community Engagement: Participate in one “I Love My Park Day” event, organized by NYS, at a Greenway of your choice.
      • Pay It Forward: Introduce and guide a new rider on the trails and impart the Leave No Trace principles of trail stewardship.

Time Frame:
Participants have the flexibility to complete the challenge at their own pace, with no set time frame, allowing for a personalized and enriching experience on the trails.

Reporting:

      • Participants are required to report their progress using the online form (Link TBD).
      • Dates and mileage must be documented via GPS Apps, preferably through the EquiLab App. A free-to-use link to a 30-day Pro trial will be provided.

Awards and Recognition:
Upon successful completion of the challenge, participants will be honored with the prestigious title of Greenway Trail Master. In recognition of their achievement and dedication to trail stewardship, awardees will receive a distinctive Rochester Trail Riders Patch and a special Greenway Trail Master Badge to adorn beneath it. This badge serves as a symbol of their commitment to responsible riding and the preservation of the greenway trails.

Profit Allocation for Trail Improvements:
The Rochester Trail Riders maintain a steadfast commitment to community contribution and the conservation of our invaluable greenways. Profits generated from the challenge will be conscientiously accumulated until reaching the $100 benchmark. Once achieved, the accumulated funds will be generously donated to the relevant authorities overseeing the greenway trails. The contributions will be specifically earmarked for enhancements and improvements to horse-friendly trails, ensuring a delightful and enriched riding experience for all, while nurturing and preserving the integrity of our treasured greenways.
