State Parks Trail Master

Objective:
Set forth on an extraordinary journey through the varied terrains of the many local state parks in our area. The State Parks Trail Master Challenge seeks to motivate equestrians to traverse a minimum of 5 miles at at least 5 of these picturesque parks, foster responsible riding, community engagement, and environmental stewardship, all grounded in the principles of Leave No Trace.

      • Carlton Hill
      • Darien Lakes
      • Finger Lakes State Forest
      • Howland’s Island
      • High Tor
      • Letchworth
      • SONYEA
      • Rattlesnake Hill

Qualifications:
To earn the esteemed title of State Parks Trail Master, participants are required to meet the following criteria:

      • Certification: Obtain a Leave No Trace – Stock Use Certification before initiating the challenge.
      • Trail Riding: Complete a minimum of 5 miles at 5 of the participating parks.
      • Community Engagement: Participate in at least one “I Love My Park Day” event at one of the challenge parks.
      • Pay It Forward: Mentor a new rider by introducing them to the trails and teaching the Leave No Trace principles of trail stewardship.

Time Frame:
Participants are granted the liberty to complete the challenge at their own leisure, allowing for a customized and enriching trail experience.

Reporting:

      • Participants must report their progress using the online form (Link TBD).
      • Dates and mileage should be documented via GPS Apps, preferably through the EquiLab App. A link to a free-to-use 30-day Pro trial will be provided.

Awards and Recognition:
Successful participants will be honored with the prestigious title of State Parks Trail Master. To celebrate their accomplishment and dedication to trail conservation, awardees will receive a distinctive Rochester Trail Riders Patch,  a unique State Parks Trail Master Badge to proudly display beneath it,  a certificate of completion and their name listed below..

Profit Allocation for Trail Improvements:
Rochester Trail Riders are committed to enhancing community well-being and preserving the state parks’ natural beauty. Profits generated from the challenge will be accumulated until the $100 milestone is reached. These funds will be donated to the relevant park authorities for the betterment and conservation of horse-friendly trails, enriching the riding experience and safeguarding our beloved state parks.
